UN REMARKS ON CHINA’S GENDER EQUALITY
According to the report by UN Working Group on discrimination, China needs still further steps for ensuring the involvement of women in economic and political spheres.
The report points to the improvements in women’s role in the historical phase that an ageing population is giving way to a younger generation and have made a great effort in meeting both home and working place responsibilities.
Lso, according to the report China has surpassed 2015 Millennium Development Goals in improving women’s level of education and reducing maternity mortality. But the report demand more provision for complete equality between men and women.
The report even calls for comprehensive gender policies at the Third Plenum of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
The aim of the policies, it is mentioned, has to be integrating the country to a level of full participation of women in top decision-making bodies in China’s macro economic policies.
