WOMEN UNDERREPRESENTED AT DAVOS

World Economic Forum was held in Davos, Switzerland, last week but only 15 percent of the attendees at the conference are women.

Representatives from governments, organizations, businesses, and civil society met at Davos for the WEF sessions last week.

The Forum has no say in giving quotas for gender equality in the percentage of women and men attending the conference.

The Forum chooses to give the equity to women as the Global Shapers group members selected by the forum were equally chosen from both men and women candidates.

It is believed that the underrepresentation of women in the Forum is a structural problem and a reflection of the gender gap in leadership roles.

#DavosWomen initiated by Analisa Balares, founder o fWomensphere, invites women and men to take part in the discussionfor the increased presence of women at next WEF sessions.
